The Wild Harvest Festival is a small, grassroots celebration of the incredible abundance and diversity of Haida Gwaii—from its forests and shores to its mountains, tidal flats, bogs, dunes, and the rich waters that surround these islands we call home.

Admission to the event is free.

Some activities require advance registration, and while many are offered at no cost, certain outings and workshops may have a fee.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Created in K'il Kun/Sandspit in 2015, the Wild Harvest Festival is a local, grassroots, and inclusive celebration centered on sharing knowledge about harvesting, preparing, and making use of the many gifts found in the wild.

Whether you're an experienced forager or just beginning to explore, there’s something to discover.

Learn about responsible and sustainable harvesting of wild foods, medicinal plants, hunting, fishing, and the traditional uses of the lands, forests, and waters of Haida Gwaii.

The Festival encourages a respectful approach that honors local cultural traditions, wildlife, plant life, and the environment—helping protect this invaluable knowledge and natural heritage for generations to come.

At its heart, the Wild Harvest Festival is about fostering a healthy, clean, and thriving environment for everyone.

Through talks, discussions, presentations, workshops, and hands-on outdoor activities, the Wild Harvest Festival brings people together to share knowledge, connect with one another, and experience the wild places that make Haida Gwaii so special.

The Festival and its organizers acknowledge the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Haida Nation, where this event takes place.
